Infectious diseases remain a leading cause of death globally, responsible for over 13 million fatalities in 2019.¹ The World Health Organization (WHO) identified six of the top ten global health threats in 2019² as being linked to infectious diseases, which ranked third in mortality after heart disease and cancer.³ Without prompt action and preventive strategies, these diseases can spread swiftly and result in devastating consequences.
